Create YouTube Videos & Shorts With ChatGPT
Go from a video idea to a hook, structure, script, title, description, and a Shorts adaptation — using a repeatable ChatGPT workflow.
In this lesson, you'll learn to…
- 1Use ChatGPT to develop a video idea into a hook, structure, and full script
- 2Write titles, descriptions, and CTAs that fit the video, not generic filler
- 3Adapt a long-form video concept into a Short
- 4Know where ChatGPT helps most in a YouTube workflow versus what still takes a human read-through
A Practical YouTube Workflow, Not a Generic YouTube Course
This isn't about YouTube strategy in general — it's about how to use ChatGPT at each step of turning an idea into a video: the hook, the structure, the script, and the supporting text (title, description, CTA), plus adapting it into a Short.
Tip: Treat ChatGPT's script as a strong first draft you read out loud and adjust to your voice — not a word-for-word teleprompter script.
The YouTube Creation Chain
1. Idea
Start from your content plan (see Lesson 1) or a rough concept.
2. Hook
The first 5-10 seconds. Ask ChatGPT for several hook options built around the angle.
3. Structure
Get a simple outline: intro, main sections, payoff/conclusion — before writing the full script.
4. Script
Fill in the outline into a full script, written in a voice you specify.
5. Title, description, CTA
Ask for multiple title options, an SEO-aware description, and a clear call to action.
6. Short adaptation
Ask ChatGPT to pull the strongest 30-60 second moment and adapt it for Shorts.
What to Specify at Each Step
| Step | What to Tell ChatGPT |
|---|---|
| Hook | The angle, and what makes this worth stopping for |
| Structure | Target length and how many main points |
| Script | Your speaking voice/tone and pacing |
| Title/Description | Keywords viewers would search, and platform (YouTube long-form vs Shorts) |
Prompt Lab
Every prompt below is exactly what you saw in the lesson. Copy them, use them, make them yours.
Generate Hook Options
You have a topic and angle and need a strong opening.
Here's my video topic and angle: [paste]. Give me 5 different hook options for the first 10 seconds — each should create curiosity or tension, not just describe the topic.
Why it works: Multiple hook options let you pick the one that actually creates a reason to keep watching, instead of a flat description.
Build a Video Script From an Outline
You have an outline and need it turned into a full script.
Here's my video outline: [paste outline]. Write a full script in a [casual/energetic/calm] speaking voice, roughly [X] minutes when read aloud. Include natural pauses/transitions between sections.
Why it works: Specifying voice and target length keeps the script sounding like you and roughly the right runtime instead of generic and too long.
Adapt a Video Into a Short
You have a full script and want to pull a Short from it.
Here's my full video script: [paste]. Pull the single strongest 30-45 second moment and rewrite it as a standalone Short — with its own quick hook, since viewers won't have the context from the full video.
Why it works: Explicitly asking for a standalone hook prevents the Short from assuming context viewers don't have.

Follow Along Example
Here's a real pass at turning an idea into a ready-to-film video package.

CHATGPT
What happens
Give the topic and angle
You share your video topic and ask for hook options.
My topic: 3 tools I stopped using after wasting money on them. Angle: brutally honest, saves the viewer money. Give me 5 hook options for the first 10 seconds.
Generates 5 hooks
Returns 5 different hook openings, each built to create curiosity rather than just state the topic.
Pick a hook, ask for the script
You choose one hook and ask for a full script.
Use hook #3. Write a full script, casual and energetic voice, about 4 minutes when read aloud, structured around 3 tools.
Writes the script
Returns a full script with the chosen hook, an outline-based structure, and natural transitions between the 3 tools.
Read it aloud, ask for a trim
You read it and the middle section runs long.
The section on tool #2 is too long. Cut it by about a third without losing the main point.
Shortens the section
Trims the section while keeping the core point and transition intact.
Ask for title, description, and a Short
You ask for the supporting text and a Short adaptation.
Writes titles/description and adapts a Short
Returns 5 title options with searchable keywords, an SEO-aware description with a CTA, and a 40-second Short built around the strongest tool with its own standalone hook.
Your Turn: Do It Yourself
Now it's your turn. Follow these steps and check them off as you go.
You'll know it worked when:
A complete, ready-to-film package for one real video — hook, script, title/description/CTA, and a Short — built faster than writing it all from scratch.
Going further:
Ask ChatGPT for the same script in two different voices (e.g. casual vs more formal) and compare which actually sounds like you when read aloud.

Key Takeaways
- The YouTube creation chain runs hook → structure → script → title/description/CTA → Short adaptation — in that order.
- Treat a ChatGPT script as a strong first draft to read aloud and adjust, not a final word-for-word script.
- A Short needs its own standalone hook — viewers won't carry context from the full video.
Lesson Summary
Turning an idea into a finished video is a chain of smaller, specific steps — hook, structure, script, title/description/CTA, and a Short adaptation — and ChatGPT can move fast through each one when you give it the right context at each stage. The result is a faster path from idea to a ready-to-film package, without losing your own voice in the process.
BrainTrain Pro Tip
BrainTrain Pro Tip: Read the script out loud once before filming — it's the fastest way to catch anything that reads fine on the page but sounds stiff or unnatural coming out of your mouth.
